Karagam (or Karagattam) is the most popular folk dance of Tamil Nadu. Performers balance a pot on their head while dancing to music. It is traditionally performed at temples during festivals to worship Mariamman and Gangai Amman. Yakshagana belongs to Karnataka; Koodiyattam and Kathakali belong to Kerala.

Viyahula Giddha is a folk dance form performed by women in Punjab during wedding celebrations. It is a variation of the Giddha dance, specifically performed at marriage ceremonies (Viyah means wedding in Punjabi).

Ghoomar is the traditional folk dance of Rajasthan, associated with the Bhil tribe and later adopted by the Rajput community. It is performed by women in flowing ghagras (skirts) with graceful twirling movements, and is now recognized as a symbol of Rajasthani culture.
