Ramanathan Krishnan was the first Indian player to represent independent India at Wimbledon, competing from the 1950s onward. He reached the Wimbledon semi-finals twice in 1960 and 1961, and in 1954 became the first Asian to win the boys' singles title at Wimbledon.
